If you like the idea of a subcompact crossover SUV for commuting in and around Woodbridge, Vaughan, Brampton, Kleinburg, and Mississauga but worry about a lack of interior space and practicality, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 can put those concerns to rest. The XT4 is small and stylish outside, but the well-equipped, comfortable and luxurious interior is one of the roomiest in the segment. Some say the best things come in small packages, and the 2023 XT4 makes a strong case for that sentiment.
It would probably be a little odd if the smallest crossover SUV in the Cadillac family was available in a vast array of different trim levels and configurations. It’s entirely appropriate then that the 2023 Cadillac XT4 lineup is as compact and straightforward as the vehicle itself. There are just three trim levels to choose from, and two of them share headline status and a common starting price.
The entry model in the XT4 lineup for the 2023 model year is the Luxury, which is front-drive in its standard form but can also be specified with all-wheel drive. The two other trim levels are the Premium Luxury and the Sport, which effectively share top-of-the-range status while appealing to slightly different audiences.
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 doesn’t quite look like a vehicle from a science fiction movie, but it’s still seriously contemporary with more than a hint of the futuristic about it. The XT4 is instantly recognizable as a Cadillac, but the lines are slightly softer than some previous Cadillac designs. There are plenty of angles, and LED lights flank a large and imposing front grille that gives the subcompact Cadillac an enormous presence. The XT4 is a handsome vehicle from any angle, and the interior more than lives up to the promises made by the exterior and that famous luxury badge on the front.
All models feature the same powertrain, a 2.0-litre turbo-four engine that sends 235 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque to the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Cylinder deactivation technology is employed to deliver fuel economy ratings of 10.9 L/100 km in the city and 8.2 L/100 km on the highway for AWD models, or 10.2 L/100 km and 7.8 L/100 km for the front-wheel drive base model.
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 can be an affordable entry point to the Cadillac brand, but there’s no mistaking the luxury credentials of this overtly premium crossover SUV. As well as high-quality materials and excellent build quality throughout the cabin, there’s plenty of legroom wherever you sit in the XT4. In the front seats, you’re treated to 44.1 inches of legroom, while those in the back get to enjoy an equally generous 39.5 inches. Even the most affordable versions get synthetic leather upholstery, while Premium Luxury and Sport models get genuine leather.
All models come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Natural Voice Recognition technology, personalized profiles for each driver’s settings, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability for compatible phones, Bluetooth hands-free calling and data-service streaming, Connected Apps, and the Teen Driver feature.
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 packs a lot into its relatively small footprint, and its equally compact lineup offers plenty of opportunities to tailor it to your specific needs.
