If a luxury model is what you really want in a new subcompact SUV and you’re looking to drive one through Woodbridge and Vaughan, the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is a terrific option and that can also lay claim to offering fantastic value. The XT4 ticks all the luxury boxes, looks amazing, and drives superbly. The only characteristics the XT4 lacks are excessive mass and poor fuel efficiency, which are likely the reasons you are looking at a subcompact car for commuting in Kleinburg, Mississauga and elsewhere in the first place.
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 family is as small and uncomplicated as the car itself, although the lineup deviates from what some might anticipate. Featuring three trim levels—Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport— eschewing the standard hierarchy of entry-level, mid-range, and top-of-the-line cars. The XT4 Luxury is an entry-level model, but it is far too well-equipped and appealing to ever be referred to as a “base” model. The Premium Luxury and Sport variants of the XT4 share range-topping status and a similar starting MSRP, which makes things a little unique. The names give away the distinction between them. While the Sport model has an emphasis on sportiness, the Premium Luxury model focuses on comfort and luxury.
What does change this year is the way the XT4 looks, with refreshed front and rear fascias, new signature LED light arrangements, and even more stylish, luxurious, and well-equipped interiors.
All three 2024 Cadillac XT4 versions share the same powerplant, maintaining the vehicle’s incredibly simple but pleasing design. The sole significant exception is the base XT4 Luxury, which comes standard with front-wheel drive that you can’t have with the other two trim levels. The XT4 Luxury has an all-wheel-drive option, however the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels are exclusively all-wheel drive.
A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 235 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque is present in all three model levels and is mated to a nine-speed automated gearbox to drive the wheels. Even AWD vehicles feature a front-wheel-drive mode, however, which helps to increase fuel efficiency when all-wheel-drive’s additional capabilities are not needed.
Despite its compact external dimensions, the XT4 offers a substantial 39.5 inches of legroom in the back and a generous 44 inches in the front. The materials are of the high calibre one would anticipate from a Cadillac, and the inside is tastefully designed and thoughtfully organised. All models of the XT4 include automated emergency braking as standard equipment, as well as blind-spot monitors, tyre pressure monitors and a plethora of airbags. New interior colour and décor choices for 2024 include authentic wood, aluminum, carbon fibre and more.
A remarkable array of equipment and features are included as standard in the Sport and Premium Luxury versions. The suspension is one area where these co-headline vehicles diverge; the 2024 XT4 Sport is the only model offered with Active Sport Suspension. The major WOW element is a new display, even though the new interior colour and décor choices will also catch the eye. The brand’s all-electric SUV served as inspiration for this spectacular new, 33-inch-diagonal advanced LED display, which is capable of a remarkable 9K resolution. A 13-speaker AKG sound system, 5G hotspot functionality, and enhanced standard and optional driver assistance technologies are among further important updates for 2024.
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 is a compact luxury SUV that packs an awful lot into its modest footprint, but retains attributes that make people choose compact models in the first place. The XT4 was already a standout model in its segment, and the refresh for the 2024 model year take it to another level of desirability. Don’t take our word for it, though.
