There’s no mistaking the 2024 Cadillac CT4 for a car from any other brand when you see one in Woodbridge, Vaughan, Brampton, Kleinburg, Mississauga, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area. Comfort and luxury are likely to be the first attributes you’ll associate with the CT4. However, the CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing versions of the compact Cadillac prove that thrilling performance and sumptuous comfort don’t have to be mutually exclusive or cost silly money.
Three different versions of the CT4 are available for you to choose between, which some people might consider being five different trim levels. There are three trim levels in the standard CT4 lineup, which are the CT4 Luxury, CT4 Premium Luxury, and the CT4 Sport. Rear-wheel-drive is standard for all three trim levels, but all three are also available with all-wheel-drive. Premium Luxury and Sport models share the same starting MSRP and headline billing, but the names give away the different focus of each model.
If power and performance are essential to you, the V-Series has it covered. The CTS V-Series is a standard rear-drive model with AWD available, but if you want the ultimate 2024 CT4 performance, the V-Series Blackwing takes it to another level with its rear-drive-only format and a fantastic twin-turbo V-6 engine under the hood.
The standard 2024 Cadillac CT4 powerplant is a 2.0-litre turbo-four with a creditable 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which an eight-speed automatic transmission distributes to your choice of the rear or all four wheels. A more powerful option is available for the Premium Luxury trim level, and it’s a 2.7-litre turbo-four producing 310 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. With the 2.7-litre turbo-four, the eight-speed auto gets replaced by a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Step up a level to the V-Series, and you still get a 2.7-litre turbo-four, but this one gets tuned to deliver 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. But if you want to go “all-in” with your new CT4 and have the most power and performance available, the V-Series Blackwing has a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V-6 that puts 472 horsepower and 445 lb.-ft. of torque at your disposal. There’s no such thing as a slow CT4, but the Blackwing can get from a standing start to 100 kph in around four seconds.
You’d be right to expect a high standard specification and plenty of luxury from any Cadillac, and the 2024 Cadillac CT4 doesn’t disappoint. Standard features at the entry level include synthetic leather-trimmed seats, remote start, wireless device charging, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The interiors get increasingly opulent as you go up through the trim levels. However, prices don’t jump too alarmingly as the engines and performance are the main upgrades. What sets higher trim levels apart are the available options. These include ventilated seats, a Bose premium audio system, Super Cruise, Surround Vision Recorder, a head-up display, and more.
The 2024 Cadillac CT4 is a compact luxury sedan with extensive appeal. Standard models have generous levels of standard equipment and represent excellent value for money, but spend a little more, and you can get significant power and performance upgrades without breaking the bank. Of course, you can configure your CT4 to a fantastic specification if you wish to.
